Luka® can read 6 out of the 8 books in this set.
The second set in the series that every Chinese grade schooler owns and loves! And now 6 books in this 8-book set can be read by Luka as your child turns the pages.
米小圈上学记 (mǐ xiǎo quān shàng xué jì) Mi Xiao Quan School Experience is the perfect way to get your young Chinese learner hooked on reading. These illustrated chapter books, very similar to English series like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Captain Underpants, chronicle the exploits of a boy named 米小圈(Mǐ Xiǎo Quān).
米小圈(Mǐ Xiǎo Quān), an ordinary primary school boy with a funny name, is cheeky and playful. He takes you through his hilarious daily life from 1st to 4th grade in his Chinese primary school.
This is not only a must-have bridge book series to introduce your child to more advanced chapter book reading, but also a great peek into modern Chinese culture. All primary school age children that JoJo interviewed in China this summer, boys or girls, recommended the Mi Xiao Quan series as some of their favorite books.
The books' pages are mostly text, but there is at least one illustration every couple of pages. It is written in a first-person conversational tone so it is great for learning everyday language. The series progresses in difficulty, so, the first set of books, 米小圈上学记 Grade 1 and 2 , has Pinyin above the Chinese characters, while this set, 米小圈上学记 Grade 3 and 4, does not have pinyin.
If your child has been gradually straying away from Chinese books and you are looking for something truly entertaining to get him excited about reading Chinese, try Mi Xiao Quan!
Many parents and educators have found Mi Xiao Quan beneficial for children learning Chinese. Check out mom, pediatrician, and blogger, Betty Choi's 米小圈 book review .
