This adorable series 不一样的卡梅拉 (bù yī yàng dí qiǎ méi lā), beautifully translated from the original French version, follows the hilarious and action-packed adventures of a group of chickens. With 50 million copies sold in China, the chicken characters including 卡梅拉 (kǎ méi lā) have become beloved household names. 

Every page contains at least one small full-color illustration, but several pages are completely illustrated.  The amount of text on each page varies between 2 and 13 lines. It is a perfect reading level before introducing a child to chapter books.

This set is quite substantial as each book is 48 pages long. Although it may sound intimidating, this set will motivate a child who is a fluent reader of "leveled readers" to take their reading to the next level.

Pinyin above the text helps budding readers by allowing them to look up unknown characters, or guess the meaning of words they may have heard, but never seen before.

"Read to me":
Ages 5+ will enjoy having these books read to them either by Luka® or a caregiver.

"Read by myself":
The limited text per page and the prevalence of common language make it a good "bridge book" for readers. The involved plot and detailed illustrations will capture the interest of experienced readers ages 7+. 

Good to know:

We highly recommend this particular 15-book set with Pinyin, versus many other versions including a 12-book sets without Pinyin. Pinyin adds support for and builds confidence of budding Chinese readers.
