Originally published in 1983 and republished in 2008, the Angelina Ballerina (安吉莉娜, ān jí lì nà) series has become a favorite of children around the globe.
Angelina is learning and growing, and dreaming to become the best ballerina she can. Not only will young ballet enthusiasts take the stories to heart, but also all children who love fun stories and sophisticated characters. Angelina is sassy yet caring, stubborn yet honest, mischief-making yet friendly, frustrated yet persistent...and always swirling and twirling!
The detailed cross-hatch illustrations beautifully depict the mouse family's cottages and community. Although the story, with up to 10 short lines on each page, can be substantial, the Chinese translation is smooth and conversational. Children as young as 3 years old who can carry on a conversation in Chinese will enjoy having these stories read to them.
This series is an excellent choice for parents looking for bridge books before introducing their independent little readers to chapter books.
